“‘Rosé Rocks!’ is South Africa’s first dedicated rosé wine competition which seeks to recognise excellence in rosé winemaking. Rosé is one of the fastest growing categories of wine in South Africa and internationally. In South Africa alone, sales have grown annually the last few years. This is exciting for consumers and winemakers alike, and there’s no doubt about it, rosé wines have sex appeal!” – roserocks.co.za
We are proud to announce we have two winners for the original 2021 Rosé Rocks Awards. We received a Double Gold for the Ken Forrester Silver Rose and Gold award for the Ken Forrester Petit Rosé.
Double Gold for Ken Forrester Silver Rose!
“I simply love Grenache Rosé – I love it for all the red fruit flavours, the strawberry, pomegranate, red berry fruit and for the last few years we’ve experimented with a single vineyard rosé from Grenache. So the intent was a delightful, softly pink, elegant fruit focused wine but it had to have structure and body and a long finish on the palate – all of this almost contrary to the fact that you press the grape gently and drain off just the freshest “free-run juice” with little or no chance of getting tannins or structure from the skins! We are really thrilled with the result. The most daunting reality is we now have to somehow manage to do the same this vintage!” – Ken Forrester
Gold for Ken Forrester Petit Rosé!
This very elegant Rosé overwhelms the nose with aromas of freshly picked strawberries, rose petal and cherry flavours. It follows through on the palate with delicious ripe raspberries with a delicate finish. Serve with all light summertime meals. Should last approx half an hour with the cap off and then reach for the next bottle!
